Spot Buys
Spot buys are often difficult to classify and manage effectively. Since they are
not under contract they cannot be easily processed through existing catalogs or
order methods, and they are usually too small to benefit from the full strategic
sourcing process. Purchases that fall under the “spot buy” categorization are frequently
left to sourcing professionals who don’t have time to adequately address the spend,
or to transaction processing who doesn’t have the skills to employ procurement best
practices. Because of this position of limbo, significant savings can usually be
achieved by implementing a coordinated and centralized spot buy process.
GEP spot buy team consists of specialized experts who are familiar with a particular
market and/or geography and can engage the right suppliers based on their experience
and using our database of over 35 million suppliers. Additionally, the spot buy
experts will introduce aspects of strategic sourcing such as competitive bidding
and negotiations to help generate significant savings to this previously under managed
spend.
